Our Maggie – 1998 – 2014

Dear Tripawd Family,
It is with a very heavy heart that we tell you that Maggie passed away yesterday afternoon. We are so devastated by her loss. She was the most wonderful, amazing, happy, girl you’ll ever know. She was a true inspiration to us and so many who knew her. With all she had been through, she managed to beat cancer, and lived to be 16 years and two months. We had another 4 years and 8 months with her after her diagnosis that we are so grateful for. The Dr’s only gave her 14 months!

If it wasn’t for the support of this wonderful community, we would have had such a harder time through all of this. One thing we learned, never believe what the doctors will tell you. It’s the love and faith that keeps our beloved pets going. She truly was a miracle dog.

We will forever miss her, but we will always carry her in our hearts. She really did have a good and happy life right up until Monday and we knew it was time to let her go. In the end, it wasn’t cancer that took her life, but just being a wonderful old girl. It was time to go.

Love to you all.
Please enjoy this video that Tracy and I put together. It really shows you the wonderful life she had.

xoxo

Maggie’s 4th year Ampuversary!

Happy New Year to all the tripawd family!
I wanted to tell you all that Maggie celebrated her 4th year Ampuversary yesterday! She’s amazing, even as a 15 and 1/2 year old girl. She is so alert, and loves her walks. She continues to do well, although she is slowing down a bit, but what do you expect from this beautiful old girl. She’s definitely my angel and miracle dog. I count my blessings each and every day I have with her. I hope continued health and happiness for 2014 for all my tripawd families. From Maggie and her moms!

Today is Maggie’s 15th Birthday! :)

Today is Maggie’s 15th birthday. She is also celebrating her 3 year and 7 month ampuversary as well. She has been the model of health for osteosarcoma survivors. The Dr’s gave her only 14 months after treatment, but here she is as a 15 year old lady. I am so blessed to still her have with us. I still count my blessing everyday to see that she is healthy and happy.

We had a slight scare a month ago, where she had green mucus coming from her nose. I thought “oh, oh, here we go.” I assumed it was mets in the lungs. Well, we went to the Dr. and she wanted to take a chest x-ray. The Dr. also expressed her sentiment, as she knows that for people like us who have gone through this, this is a tough decision.
Of course, I panicked, as I had never had her chest x-rayed since her treatment, as I never wanted to know if indeed the cancer spread to her lungs. But, given the circumstances, I asked Dr. to go ahead and take the x-rays. Low and behold, her x-rays were clear, not mets! Yay, so they figured she had some type of allergy. So she provided antibiotics for Mags and away we went. However, two weeks later, more green mucus.
I was worried again and thought that the antibiotics would have taken care of it. Just then, she started to sneeze many times, and I noticed something coming from her nose.
And there it was…A really long blade of grass. I pulled it out, and now, she’s totally back to normal. Phew! What a day!

I continue to feed her no grain food, as well as salmon wet food. She really loves it. I also give her all natural cookie treats that contain vegetables. And we still go for our walks. They aren’t as far as they used to be, but she’s just so happy to go for a nice sniff and stroll .

Have a great day!

Happy 3rd Ampuversary to Maggie!

Happy New Year!!!
Happy New Year!!!

Hi Tripawd Family and Happy New Year!

Today, we celebrated another year with Maggie as she passed her 3 year post amputation surgery from Osteosarcoma. We are blessed to have her with us to ring in another new year. She is still cancer free and is enjoying her life.

She is still doing great, loves her walks and naps. We continue to keep her on a special protein diet (EVO dry and Salmon Wet). She also gets special cookies that are all natural for her treats.

And today of course, she got some special cooked chicken to her meal today to celebrate her awesome achievement, Her brother Cody also benefited from it too!

Happy 2nd Year Amuversary to Maggie

What's a Face! :)Today is my Maggie’s 2nd year Ampuversary… For the tripawd world, that means 2 years after her amputation from osteosarcoma. The doctors gave her 14 months, and I am happy to report she is still with us and doing great. I can’t tell you how blessed I feel today. Two years ago today, I was devastated to think I would lose her so soon. However, there were other plans for her. So today, I lift up my head to the heavens and whisper a “Thank You!” from my heart. So from me and Mags, love up your puppies today! 🙂

Happy Birthday to Maggie!!!

This cake is SO good!

Hi Tripawd Family,
Maggie celebrated her 13th birthday on July 15th, 2011. As you can see in the picture, she really enjoyed her cake. We are also happy to report that it has been 18 months since Maggie’s surgery. She is still doing great and loves her walks. We are so blessed that she is doing great and continues to be the most amazing companion one could hope for. She’s truly my angel!

Maggie in the Snow – March 2011

VIDEO —>   Maggie in the Snow

Hi Tripawd Family,

Maggie has passed her 15 month Ampuversary! I have posted this video of Maggie in the snow. She is seen here running in the snow just after one of our recent March storms in the Sierra Foothills in California.

She is doing very well and has been very healthy and cancer free.

I just wanted to share this cute video with you all and wishing you all a happy spring.

Happy 1 Year Ampuversary to Maggie!

Hello Tripawd Family,

This week we are celebrating Maggie’s 1 year Ampuversary! I have attached a video of her playing with a xmas gift from her grandma. Maggie continues to do well. She is a slim and trim 56 pounds, which is good for her arthritis. Maggie turned 12  this past year. She’ll be 13 in July :).

I cannot tell you how happy I am at this point to have my baby mags here to celebrate this new year. Last year at this time, we didn’t think she’d be here, but she is! I still pray every night for God to keep her in his hands.

She is so funny, loves to play, and can’t wait for her walks. She even teases her brother Cody on occasion.

We continue to feed her EVO dry and wet food, with a splash of fish oil. She continues to get the wheat type of cookie treats, which she loves. She gets her daily dose lovin’ from us, which I know gives both of so much happiness.

Sorry we haven’t posted in a while, it’s been crazy here at home, new jobs, etc… but we are happy to report that she is really doing great.

From Tracy, Maggie, Cody, and myself, I want to say “Happy New Year”, and for those who have just started this journey, I pray for your strength and courage to hang in there and never give  up!

Maggie’s 7 Month Ampuversary!

This is how I wait for my mom to give me a treat!

Today is Maggie’s 7 month Ampuversary! She is doing well and loves to go on her walks. I had to start leashing her again because she kept running fast after squirrels and cats. Sometimes in the street after them, so I had to keep her near and dear! I figured, since she had three legs, how fast can she really go? Well, too fast sometime :).
We are feeding her EVO brand dry low fat, and EVO canned (Just a couple of teaspoons). She also gets a squirt of fish oil, and I occasionally give her low fat cottage cheese or yogurt. She loves it all.
We just recently saw another Tripawd around the corner to where we live. It seems that dog is doing just fine too.
Maggie’s appetite is really good, and he loves her nightly massages. I am SO happy that she is doing well and still with us. I cherish every single day she’s here. She’s the first one I see when I wake up and the last one I see when I go to bed. She’s a fantastic loving dog and I am glad to share her story with you all. Maggie’s Mom, Kathy
