good day today!!

Today was a great day!  For the 1st time she went up the stairs.  A little hesitant at first, but then fine.  We helped her down though.  Not sure if i will every feel comfortable with her going downstairs alone.

Then she went for the longest walk so far – about 2 blocks.   We let her go as long as she wanted and when she was tired i ran home to get the car.  She was sleeping very soundly after her walk.

We left her inside sleeping to do some chores and left the doggie door open for the 1st time.  When we got home she had gone out and was sitting in her favorite place outside.  I am so glad that we decided on the surgery now.  For the 1st time she seems normal again.  Hopefully this is the 1st of many good days.

  1. How awesome! We’re so glad to hear that Maggie is doing well with her recovery – these first two weeks are the roughest. When I played her youtube video Holly had the funniest reaction – she heard you saying “good girl” and she jumped up all excited looking for the nice voice! She started barking and looked outside for you. It was really cute. Best wishes for more fun walks!

  2. Aww right on Maggie! Stairs are scarier for people than they are for us. My Mom wouldn’t let me go downstairs alone for like, forever. She was always afraid I would take a spill. I only did once, when I tried to chase the FedEx guy.

Good for you for getting out and going for walks. But don’t overdo it OK? We want you all healed up without injuring yourself.

Yipee! Recovery is a great thing. Keep it up.

  3. Way to go Maggie!!! Keep getting better. I hope all of your accomplishments were duly rewarded!

  4. Awesome that Maggie is doing so well! When Mackenzie had her surgery, she surprised us by going up the stairs all by herself without us around. Going down, that was a little bit more tricky. I did help her down the stairs for the first few weeks (but now she’s able to go down all by herself and I’m sure Maggie will do the same before you know it (but I still get nervous!) That’s great that Maggie could go two blocks. Before you know it, she’ll be running miles and circles around all the other neighborhood dogs! Congratulations on a speedy recovery!
